Nvidia just became a $1 trillion company, with its valuation rising as tech companies large and small add generative artificial intelligence tools to their products. AI tools have made up the bulk of recent Google I/O and Microsoft Build presentations, and Nvidia’s chips make it a major supplier for companies trying to build something with AI.
Its valuation surpassed the trillion-dollar benchmark as trading opened today at more than $400 a share, putting it in the rarefied air previously held by only a few large companies such as Apple and Microsoft, each of which in August 2018 and crossed the significant mark in Aug. 2019, respectively.
