The activation algorithm for Windows XP has, incredibly, been completely cracked, allowing for complete offline activation. register (Via Ars Technica, A blog post on Tinyapps discussed a Reddit post, but the program that allows this has apparently existed for at least several months, possibly floating in the ether as a torrent download.
No one knows who created the software, the subreddit posts, including user retroreview, who shared it first and isn’t even sure where. They Got it, guessing it came from a torrent somewhere.
In the meantime, it appears that someone is working on reverse engineering the software. A user calling himself Neo-Desktop dumped the program on Github and said in a discussion there that they are working to create an open source version.
